CAMERA THAT CAN EVEN SLOW LIGHT DOWN

We often wonder on how fast light travels and when we would actually see the photons travelling that fast. Well the researchers of MIT have created a camera that can shoot at ONE TRILLION FRAMES per SECOND. Isn't that Amazing!!. 

It is fast enough to capture light beam travelling from say the length of one litre bottle to its cap and reflecting back to the bottles bottom.

This whole camera system is based on a technology called steak camera which has been recently built. Andreas Velten who is one of the system developers calls is the "ULTIMATE" in slow motion to which he is absolutely right.

HOW DOES THE STEAK CAMERA  WORKS

This camera is not small like the normal cameras but it requires a lot of settings and a lot more complicated one.So explaining it from the starting, the aperture is a narrow slit through which particles of light ie photons enter and are converted into electrons which then pass through an electric field and gets deflected by it. As the electric field is changing very fast, the electrons gets deflected corresponding from the late arriving photons. Thus the image produced by the camera is 2-D in the sense that one dimension represents the degree of deflection ie time and another corresponds to the direction of slit.

RECORDING IN ULTRA SLOW-MO

As it produces a 2-D image which is a very serious drawback to produce an ultra slow motion movie. So to get a slow mo movie they must perform the same experiment ie passing the light pulse through the bottle again and again. It takes a nano second for light to scatter through a bottle but takes a full one hour to collect all the data. After accumulating 1000's of data sets each of which represents position of photon with their time of arrival, all of them are stitched together according to their time and then we get a full ULTRA SLOW-MO MOVIE.

PRICE TAG

The price tag of steak camera along with the laser that generates light pulses was put around $250,000 by Bawendi, first one to research on quantum dots.

AROUND THE CORNERS

The researchers in another project presented that this camera can also see around corners ie can see what is around another side of the wall, door etc. Well we may say that we can do this by radar or infrared, But we cant if the object is not emitting any thermal radiation. So this camera would pretty much work on this case. That camera works by bouncing light off a reflective surface say, the wall opposite a doorway and by measuring the time taken by different photons to return.But because the ultrafast-imaging system requires multiple passes to produce its videos, it can’t record events that aren’t exactly repeatable.

Some Amazing Life Hacks That Will Make Your Life Easy

EMERGENCY MOBILE CHARGER

STUCK AT A PLACE WITH NO ELECTRICITY AND YOUR CELL PHONE's BATTERY IS DOWN.?

You just need a 9v battery, your charging cable or data cable or a car charger.

If you have a car charger it would be good otherwise rip the other end of cable. The positive wire would be of red color.

Now all you need is to connect the positive terminal of battery with that of positive terminal of wire and negative terminal of battery with the negative wire AND THE PHONE BEGINS TO CHARGE.

In case of car charger its big front head is positive and side plates are negative. To connect the side plate to the battery you can use any metal like screw or key.

WARNING: Only use this hack in case of real emergency. Prolonged use may harm your  phone's battery life because standard charger provides 5 volt output while we here are giving the phone directly 9 volt. 

NO ELECTRICITY AND YOU WANT TO IRON YOUR CLOTHES?

All you need is a stove, pressure cooker, table, and 2 pillows. You don't need the table if your self has a lot of place to iron the clothes. Pillows helps to transfer more heat to the cloth because more area of cooker base will be touching the cloth.

Step 1: Place your table near the stove and put pillows according to the shape of cloth.

Step 2: Warm your pressure cooker with its lid closed on the stove (not more than 30 seconds otherwise it will burn your shirt). In case jeans is to be iron warm cooker for around 40 seconds.

Step 3: The cooker will remain warm for around 15 sec once removed from stove. In that time you can iron whatever you want. After this time you will again need to warm the cooker up.

Step 4: After finishing turn off the stove.

WARNING: Be careful with the cooker base it is hot. And do not put anything inside the cooker, it wont let it warm up.

BUBBLE GUM ON SHOE

While walking if a chewed bubble gum sticks to the shoes it is very annoying and irritating. So what do we do to remove it.

Here's a way to quickly remove it.

Apply ice on it and wait for 2-3 minutes for the bubble gum to be cooled down so as it could become stiff. Now you can pull it out with your hands or take any other thing like screw driver to pull it out.

  

EMERGENCY LIGHT WITHOUT ANY BATTERY

At times you may need an emergency light which is dim yet powerful enough to last through days. For this all you need is a citric fruit like lemon and an led. The lemon should be fresh and green and for the emergency light to work u need to put the terminals of led inside the lemon and that's all, the led glows up.

A fresh lemon may be able to provide around 4-5 days of light on single led. You may even cut the lemon to half or attach more led's to it. It won't affect the brightness of lemon.

AFRAID OF ELECTRIC SHOCK WHILE SWITCHING ON or OFF LIGHT WITH WET HANDS

Many switches do not have a proper protective coating due to which we get electric shock by using it with wet hands. But don't worry you will be safe just using any of the two hacks.

1. You can cover switches with plastic sheets or polythene which would protect the water to reach inside. This may not look good on the switches or if you are at your relatives house then just forget about covering them. So there's another hack which just needs nothing.

2. The hack is present in your body,you just need to see it. Well that's our nails. Our nails are made with a tough protein 'keratin' which is not a good conductor of electricity. So next time you need not to cut all your nails just keep one nail long and if your hands are wet then use your hidden weapon i.e. your nail.

Why was Pluto demoted from planetry status and yet there was a mission to Pluto?

What is a planet?

Any heavenly object that has its own satellites revolve around the sun in a fixed path.
So now the question arises WHY is PLUTO NOT CONSIDERED TO BE A PLANET ANYMORE...

Has it been destroyed?

No it is not destroyed and still revolves around the Sun. Earlier it was a rumour that PLUTO has been destroyed when it was demoted. 

Is it smaller?

Well the size does not matter and to add to your knowledge PLUTO is nearly 1/6 th to that of EARTH and about 2/3 rd to that of MOON(about 1473 miles of diameter according to current stats previously thought to be 1430 miles).

Or does PLUTO not have any Satellite?

NO, PLUTO has 5 satellites and the bigger one 'Charon' is as much big as half of PLUTO's size. Moreover to be a planet, it is not necessary to have any satellite.

Then, Does PLUTO not revolve in a fixed orbit?

Well then It has an elliptical orbit and its revolution time is 248 years which is very large. So it does have a fixed orbit.

AU(Astronomical Unit) = 1,49,597,871 kilometers

Then why Pluto is not a planet anymore?

The answer to this is our Dwarf planet PLUTO was considered to be a planet until we knew about Kuiper Belt of which consists of several of thousands of other objects some with size and orbit similar to that of Pluto and Pluto itself is a part of Kuiper Belt. It was not possible to have too many of planets, so Pluto was re-categorized to being a member of Kuiper Belt designated as a KBO( Kuiper Belt Object).

Kuiper Belt consists of several thousands rocky and icy objects which revolve around the Sun just like Asteroid Belt(situated between MARS and JUPITER) and it is the outmost layer of our SOLAR SYSTEM. It existed from the begining of our SOLAR SYSTEM or we can say that the objects in Kuiper Belt are like the fragments of the past as is Pluto.
Pluto and its satellites may provide us with a lot of valuable information about the formation of Earth and Moon.
So to know more about the history of the Solar system(i.e. how was it formed) and Earth there was a mission to Pluto called NEW HORIZON which took 9½ years to reach to Pluto. It reached on 14 July 2015 and started collecting data.
It would take NASA 16 months to download all the data in original format collected by NEW HORIZON on this historical day. Currently NEW HORIZON is sending all the data in a highly compressed format and then later on in its original format.

7 AMAZING TECH THAT MAY CHANGE THE WORLD

1. BIOLOGICAL SOLAR PANEL

Plants can produce electricity, all we need to do is to wire them up. The students of Cambridge University are researching on how plants and algae can be used to create a solar panel which would power devices even could charge our smartphones.

The plants get energy from sunlight through photosynthesis and during this process release electrons and protons, Some of those electrons are harvested by us and they are used to derive the electricity.

Well to charge our smartphone by the plants would take a whole day, So to make it more efficient we used algae which proved to be way more efficient than plants.

All we need is some sticky tape, carbon fibre cloth,a catalyst, paper mixed with stainless steel powder, of course some algae.

2. 3D PRINTERS

3D printing is a process of creating a 3 dimensional solid object with the help of 3D printers. This is achieved by applying a layer of material one on another to acquire the required shape. The 3D printer can print any shape which is stored in a digital design file in the computer.
It can print any shape within hours depending upon the size. There are various 3D printers available in the market each at a different cost and with a different way of printing.

Till now we are able to print the body of a fully functional car, clothes, monuments, etc. Maybe in the future me might be able to print our houses, not the toy model but the whole big house in which we can live and then it would be the starting of a whole new era.

3. HOLOGRAMS

Holograms are a 3D image formed by the projection of the image from different sources obviously at different angles at a particular area.
We do not need any screen to peoject a hologram unlike the old 2D projectors which means need a surface to project light on it.
These 3D projectors would just create an image in space which we can view at any angle.

By these holograms we might not need to travel to different places for meeting purposes, and can have that meeting sitting at our home creating our live hologram at that place. This would save money, time and fuel.

4. inFORM

The inFORM is MIT's new toy for imagining the interfaces of tomorrow. It is almost like a clay which could mend itself in any shape we want. The users can not only interact with the digital content but can also shake hands with a person standing miles away. It is just like a 3D surface that can change its shape whenever we want.
We can built 3D designs on it, move objects and can do whatever is in our creative mind.

This Created by Daniel Leithinger and Sean Follmer and overseen by Professor Hiroshi Ishii, the technology behind the inFORM isn't that hard to understand. It's basically a fancy Pinscreen, one of those executive desk toys that allows you to create a rough 3-D model of an object by pressing it into a bed of flattened pins or you might have seen this in the movie The Wolverine(2013). With inFORM, each of those "pins" is connected to a motor controlled by a nearby laptop, which can not only move the pins to render digital content physically, but can also register real-life objects interacting with its surface.

5. VIRTUAL EYES FOR BLIND

The blindness of the people is over with this new technology which would allow blind people to see the world without any eye being changed. This tech is called Virtual Eye, which consists of a camera situated on a pair if glasses which directly sends signals to the visual cortex of the brain using wires .

Till now the tech enable to define the shape, size and the distance of the object and that too in just a few colours. But in near future we might be able to achieve all the colours, shapes and sizes of the world and the blind would be able to see again.

And in the coming future guyz, I tell you that there would be no blind person seen.

6. SMART CONTACT LENSES

After Google Glass, Google came up with another amazing tech Smart Contact Lenses. These lenses would monitor the healthcare of a person.

After a deal between Google and Alcon eyewear, the companies said that they would create Smart Contact Lenses. It would contain a low power microchip and an electronic circuit which would be extremely thin even thinner than a human hair.

This Lens would measure diabetics’ blood sugar levels directly from tear fluid on the surface of the eyeball. The system sends data to a mobile device by wireless communication to keep the individual informed.

7. INVISIBILITY CLOAKS

Invisibility cloak mainly resembles the one shown in Harry Potter movie, so a person wearing it could preety much become invsible. When Cambridge University's Scientists developed a new method of creating invisible metamaterial with the help of lasers it lead to the possibility of invisibility cloaks.

This Cloak would mainly be used for military applications like for an invisible fighter plane or invisible soldiers ,etc.

This works by using laser light which is unfocussed to stitch particles of gold present in
cloaking device together, and the material created by researchers could reflect light through
the principle of inverse refraction which in turn would make the objects covered by it appear
invisible.
